City Outdoor Media, an independent specialist in large-format digital out-of-home (DOOH) screens across the UK, has been granted planning permission for full motion digital artwork on the Old Street Digital Canvas launching from 6th March 2025.
Surrounded by satellite screens, the Old Street Digital Canvas sits at the heart of one of London’s busiest intersections. Following the completion of major road upgrades, the former Old Street Roundabout has been transformed into a modern, pedestrian-friendly gateway, with millions of people every year passing through via road, foot, bicycle and the London Underground.
This approval marks a significant milestone, making it only the second large-format roadside full-motion digital screen in London, following Piccadilly Lights.
The upgrade offers brands an unparalleled opportunity to engage audiences in East London’s vibrant Shoreditch and Tech City areas.
Steve Smith, Owner of City Outdoor Media, commented:
“This is a fantastic step forward for our business and portfolio. We are committed to delivering the highest quality DOOH inventory in the UK, and investing in our screens is a key part of that. The Old Street Digital Canvas is a truly unique format, and we’re excited to see how brands harness its potential for creativity and innovation in one of London’s most dynamic cultural and tech hubs.”
Philip Allard, COO at Wildstone, which owns the site, commented:
“This project is a great example of our partnership-led approach. City Outdoor identified the site’s potential for full-motion, and our team worked closely with them to secure the necessary consents and bring this vision to life. It marks a major milestone for roadside DOOH in London, and we look forward to seeing brands and artists make the most of this unique digital canvas.”
